The Negotiation Lab & Pilgrims Develop Workshops for Business Executives and Diplomats

The Negotiation Lab is currently working with Pilgrims, Canterbury's leading international training and development firm, offering negotiation courses to  business executives and diplomats.

In March and December 20009; October 2010 and October 2011, the Negotiation Lab trained a total of 39 North Korean diplomats in Canterbury as part of a cultural programme sponsored by the British Government. The diplomats were from the North Korean Ministry for Foreign Affairs; the Ministry for Foreign Trade; the Foreign Trade Bank; the State Committee for Coordinating Translation & Terminology; the State Committee for Cultural Relationships with Foreign Countries and the Institute for Disarmament and Peace. The workshops also included professors from Kim Il Sung University and the University of Foreign Language Studies.

In April 2009, the Negotiation Lab also worked with Pilgrim's to train five customs officials from the Ministry of Interior in Turkey.

In the last four years, 30 business executives from 15 continental European & Asian corporations have taken the Basic Negotiation Workshop.

The slide shows to the right illustrate  how animated, intense and engaged students become when role playing negotiation scenarios.
